Several differences exist between the Las Vegas
Academy and conventional high schools. In order to attend to Academy,
a student must choose and successfully audition for a major. Also,
conventional high schools have six periods a day spread out over
six hours. However, the Academy student spends seven hours a day,
attending eight periods. Those extra two periods, called 'blocks'
